Senior Analyst, Performance Analytics

Role

This is a full-time employee position of Senior Analyst, Performance Analytics, taking on a team lead role in our Toronto or Chicago office. The successful candidate will report to and work closely with the Director, Performance Analytics to help take GainShare to the next level in delivering data-driven analytics and attribution solutions to client business problems, ultimately creating a competitive advantage in the increasingly data-driven performance marketing industry. 

The Performance Analytics team collaborates with both our Toronto and Chicago media teams to provide services to our Canadian and American clients. This person will also work on broader integrated client teams, regularly interfacing across Media – Account – Operations – Creative teams, and directly with Clients. Key to this role is the ability to communicate stories with data to internal and client stakeholders. Doing so requires experience working with media-driven data and technology (ad/mar-tech stacks) and expertise with the data science tools and programs commonly associated with manipulating and analyzing data as well as statistical market research are essential for this role. We are looking for someone who is client service-driven, proactive, detail-oriented, agile, collaborative, dynamic and entrepreneurial.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Director, Performance Analytics in leading the execution of overall media measurement strategy on behalf of our clients, including reporting, test design and learning agendas.
  • Understand core business challenges and develop relevant measurement frameworks that outline measures of success, in-flight optimization levers and test prioritization.
  • Routinely represent the Performance Analytics department in cross-functional internal and client-facing status and reporting meetings.
  • Provide or assist in provision of regular performance trends reporting and insights for both internal and client stakeholders, maintain a tight finger on the pulse of emerging performance trends and opportunities.
  • Partner with internal and client teams to identify business needs and analytics opportunities, developing tools and techniques to analyze and provide performance-improving recommendations.
  • Develop, enhance, and manage various analytical solutions in support of client objectives.
  • Determine what data is needed and how to consume and store this data to support reporting needs and ad hoc performance-improving analysis for both internal and client stakeholders.
  • Manage and optimize data workflows from sourcing to storage to reporting to deliverables to maximize for value-added and time-efficiency.
  • Play an active role in ensuring all Analytics deliverable timelines are met, working collaboratively as needed.
  • Ensure deliverables are adapted properly to stakeholder audience; adapting terminology and visuals as needed to “speak the stakeholder’s language”, thus communicating with maximum effectiveness.
  • Troubleshoot and QA data, reporting, and tracking anomalies as needed, with proactive communication to stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior team members and providing a “hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves” mentality toward partnering cross-functionally with teammates in both Toronto and Chicago in the execution and service of our clients.
  • Relentlessly challenge the status quo. Always be critical of how we can be more effective or more efficient as an individual, as an Analytics team, or as an agency supporting our clients.
  • Provide ongoing and proactive client service, internally and externally as needed to help us continue elevating our performance for our clients.
  • Regularly work with and analyze data across a wide variety of marketing channels and user journey: Linear & Connected TV, Digital Display and Video, Paid and Organic Search, Social platforms, website analytics, call center activity, client CRM systems, and more.

Requirements

  • University degree or college graduate in Business, Economics, Statistics, Marketing, Computer Science, related quantitative discipline, or the equivalent hands on experience in Marketing Analytics.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience working with data, reporting and analysis in a quantitative business environment – experience in Marketing or User Experience is a plus.
  • Experience using data visualization tools like Datorama, Tableau, Power BI, etc., to report on KPIs and facilitate communication of trends and insights.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; very comfortable with pivot tables, calculated metrics, conditional logic, and VLOOKUP functions.
  • Working knowledge of digital advertising platforms and ad servers like Facebook, Amazon, Google Ads, DV360 and The Trade Desk is highly desirable. Certifications are a plus.
  • Knowledge of media pixel & tag implementations/management, able to translate business requirements into tracking implementation needs, and assist in QA as needed.
  • Conceptual understanding of database structure and functionality is required, including join keys, deduplication approaches, and aggregation techniques.
  • Comfortable using web analytics platforms such as Google Analytics. Adobe Analytics, etc., - Google Analytics Certification is a plus.
  • Experience with TV media buying and planning platforms – Mediaocean or Core Direct is a plus.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and attention to detail. Must be able to resolve issues tied to capturing and processing data in a timely matter and have the ‘spidey-senses’ to proactively feel when something is off in the data.
  • Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills; able to distill overall objectives into the actionable steps required to achieve those objectives.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills, able to adapt language as needed to suit stakeholder audience.
  • Ability to effectively manage people, projects, priorities, and timelines.
  • Extremely curious or skeptical by nature.
  • Excited by the disruption forcing the Marketing, Data Science, and Technology fields to converge. So many problems to solve, so much to learn.

Additional Information

  • This position reports directly to the Director, Performance Analytics. The person will however work with, and be accountable to, other team members.
  • Work hours are 9am to 5pm.
  • Salary: TBD.
  • Start date is immediate.
